"Their song about Norfolk (Long Journey Home) I shiver everytime I hear it" Debs Smith DJ

"Loved those songs -  the arrangements had so much space! Like a late night drive through the
  American mid-west. "     JohnHocking Twickfolk

"Brilliant in so many ways"    Albert Cooper… Musican

The Gillies were superb with the most beautiful vocal harmonies, great songs and hypnotic interplay between guitar and tenor guitar. If you missed them The Gillies are very reminiscent of one of my favourite Americana outfits, Grammy Awards winners Civil Wars which can’t be bad, a really lovely set .

"Music for your graveside" is one way London-based Americana-folk duo The Gillies describe their songs. True, there's darkness in there but the graveside is also a place to reflect on life, love, loss and the moments of lightness and joy that confirm our existence, and The Gillies can convey all that in just one song. Their sound, a weaving together of steel-strung and tenor guitars, flits between the ethereal and gritty down-home reality. Delivered with unaffected clarity, their work combines bittersweet immediacy with an intangible sense of nostalgia.
Susan sings and plays a Harmony Tenor Guitar - Mark (Gilly) plays a Gibson J45 and Dobro.

They released their second album No Hiding Place in Dec 2018 and are currently recording a new one, "Masonary Nails" due to be released in June 2019.

Last year they supported Gordon Giltrap, Jill Jackson and Green Diesel,
played on West Norfolk Radio and Radio Medway.
Their video Adam and Eve was chosen ‘video of the month’ by Radio Kent’s Doug Walsh.

Past Festivals: The Hope Festival, Leigh Folk Festival, Soap Box Stage, Folk East. Deepdale Festival
